Tarragona

This area is a treat of Roman ruins.  And I don't think we would have found it without our Timeshare Tour.
Tony just kept finding Timeshares in Spain around the areas we wanted to visit, and the result is that we have stumbled upon lovely out of the way places.

We are staying in Salou, about 7 miles from Tarragona.

For example,  Salou has this  Mediterranean beach within walking distance of our place.
They have their own snail fountain.
We pondered this for a long minute...

Tarragona was the capitol of the Roman Empire in this area....it wasn't Spain yet. It was Hispania, and ruled by Emperor Augustus.

The former marketplace is now just a street.

A chunk of the wall.
Oh, and me, waiting for wine.
And Tony reading the map.  Behind a fern.

The former Jewish quarter, incorporating the Roman arches of the street.

The Circus, which was essentially horse stables.

This beautifully situated amphitheater. Can you imagine sitting in that place, being entertained?
Then we found The Forum, popping up in the middle of a residential neighborhood!
What would it be like,  living in the apartments right next to a World Heritage Site?
If I heard the music from the audio guide more than once ...
I mean, that could be the sole reason Rome fell.  Terrible music.

Tony.  Being Roman.

After that we drove out of town and found this.
Not kidding.

Here's how they built it.
Also slaves.  Millions of them.

How did they cross the continent, and the English Channel and build these same structures everywhere?
Heeyyy!
One is amazing.  Multiples blow my mind.

Here's the perfectly aligned view from the top of the aqueduct.
There was a message at the entrance to the Ferreres Aqueduct.
Good advice.

See you soon!

That was so cool that viaduct and bridge. You're not that much shorter than Tony are you? Did you shrink?
