Montjuïc

Hey Kids!  We had such a fun day today in Barcelona.  Since we were so fortunate to spend a week here last December, (see the blog post from around Christmas, 2022) we decided to go and see this fabulous cemetery terraced into a hillside called Montjuïc.
It was a very peaceful walk.  This is not a busy tourist attraction!

It's as if people built little Cathedrals for themselves.
The angels were especially beautiful.   There were some where the sculptor was credited.
This one is my favorite. She looks like my niece, Ariel.
We couldn't get our cab driver to take us to the top of the hill so we had a good climb!
This is a newer model, we think.
I hope you can zoom in on
 the gate.  It's pretty amazing.
But here's the inside.
Nice altar, but what's downstairs??

There were grottos for meditating.
Lovely stairs
And some rock star tributes to loved ones.
The family Batlló, who commissioned a home by Antoni Gaudi had quite a showing here too.
It was a fun walk.  At the end we came upon a scattering of glorious sparkly stones, so I did a little decorating myself.
We'll see you next in Rome!
